2019

Having already embraced my expressive and bold artistic style, the arrival of my dog Bumble at the end of 2018 inspired a heartfelt portrait that led to a series of pet portrait commissions. In attempting to meet expectations for realistic representations, I found myself in a conflict, my head wanted to create realistic portraits as I believed that’s what was socially acceptable but my heart wanted bold expressive freedom.

This experience felt like losing a part of myself. However, this detour became transformative. The pink patterned piece emerged as a response to my minds social pressures and the expectation to conform. It marked a moment where I reconnected with my artistic identity—this time with even greater strength and conviction. From then on, my portraits evolved into more expressive and stylized interpretations, reaffirming a commitment to honesty, emotion, and bold visual language.
