Movement is another form of active imagination - using live Performance or videography I use ritualist movements and guestures to communicate an asbtract story, a statement or an emotional expression. I explore indentity, challenge expectations and push boundries to bring about new thoughts to how we see ourselves in the world.
Much like my paintings there is a invitation for you to interpret my performances in your own way, attach your own thoughts and narratives to them.
Live video performance at The University Campus Barnsley - 2016
A coming of age expression - exploring the loss of innocence - is this a false concept? The expectations of a young women amongst society - this video can be seen as a refusal to confrom to any standards or expectations.
I am free to express and explore my own mind. Yet the muscle memory of the harsh realities of working as a bar tender become engaged.
Real life and fantasy become blended together.
A videography performance collaboration with Pitz at Worsbrough Mill Country Park.
An empowering performance that reclaims my narrative. Letting go of negative thoughts or ideas about myself that had been ingrained in my mind. To me, it symbolises becoming free from restrictions we place upon ourselves.
Pitz added the form and structure in the editing stage, adding their own narrative – awakening creativity. The piece has a compelling, intense, dark atmosphere, mixed with enough impulsive movements and camera angles that really do leave the interpretation up to the viewer.
